East Lincoln Imaging Center
Due to increased growth in eastern Lincoln County, Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln opened a new free-standing Imaging Center in May 2004 just north of the intersections of Highways 16 and 73 in Lincoln County. After conducting focus groups with women in the East Lincoln community, Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln concluded the need for mammography services and bone densitometry testing to be available outside the hospital setting. This free-standing imaging center allows for these routine exams to be conducted within a medical office setting, while still allowing all films to be read by board-certified radiologists of Charlotte Radiology Group without the need for a visit to the hospital.
Bone Density
The Imaging Office utilizes the PRODIGY™ densitometer, designed by the GE Lunar Corporation and the most advanced bone densitometer available. The machine measures the density of the spine, hip and other bones in just 30 minutes, which helps radiologists identify potential risks at a much earlier stage.
Mammography
To provide Lincoln County women with the most advanced breast care technology, Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln utilizes the Lorad M-IV Mammography System, a state-of-the-art breast cancer detection system designed to improve the quality and comfort of mammograms. The system produces high quality images that allow for better visualization of breast tissue, aiding in the early detection of breast cancer. Early detection has been shown to dramatically increase the survival rates of women afflicted with this deadly disease. This advanced system also includes features that reduce procedure times and improve patient comfort.
