Lincoln Medical Center is only one
branch of a much larger tree. And like a tree, with each season our family seems to change
and grow.
Lincoln Medical Center Foundation
Since its inception in 1995, the Lincoln Medical Center Foundation has been committed to the support and progress of LMC and its many programs. In its relatively short existance, the LMC Foundation has already made a profound impact.
During the first annual giving campaign, in 1996, the Foundation hoped to raise $75,000 for the much needed renovations to LMC's newborn nursery. The overwhelming support of the LMC staff and our surrounding community brought in over $96,000. The result: higher expectations for 1997.
In 1997, hopes were to raise monies for the construction of the Family YMCA of Lincoln County (projected opening date: December 2000) as well as purchase a bone desitometer (diagnostic screening devise for early detection of osteoporosis). The LMC staff committed itself to more than $21,000 for the YMCA. The community, through the giving campaign and the "Biggest Ever Flea Market" raised more than $31,000 for the bone densitometer.
1998, once again, brought the Foundation another project and another giving campaign. To further promote LMC's commitment to wellness and connection to the future Family YMCA of Lincoln County, the Foundation chose to pledge its fundraising to the construction of a Fitness Trail for the community on the LMC/YMCA campus. Employee gifts, proceeds from the 2nd Annual Flea Market, and community gifts brought the campaign in at $40,000.
Each year brings new challenges for the Foundation, but it continues on with its ultimate mission: to ensure the stability of Lincoln Medical Center in order to ensure quality health care services for the community.

In 1995, the Board of Directors of Lincoln County Hospital and the Board of Lincoln County Commissioners approved a resolution to dissolve Lincoln County Hospital (on paper) in order to revamp its business structure thereby staying competitive in the fast-changing American healthcare market. By changing over ownership as a self-owned and operated healthcare entity, the parent company, Lincoln Health Systems, was legally open to enter into partnerships which had otherwise not been possible.
This change, which occurred mainly on paper, caused one very cosmetic change: Lincoln County Hospital was renamed Lincoln Medical Center. With LMC's "creation" a new era of healthcare in the Lincoln area was born.
